New Quadrille prompt this week and this one from Kim. It’s that dVerse Poets 44 worder that asks to include one word.
Here?
“Quiet”
//////////////////////////////////////////
Songs of Angels & Devils or Devils & Angels
One sang itself as quiet
One sang itself as noise
Another tuned truth
While another lyric’d lies
Yet another was fear of light
And that one? Fear of night
Yet they sang, sung together
To confound
Leaving us decipher songs, sing on/of our own

Very nicely done, Stephen. I was listening to a wide range of songs last night, and your opening lines captured the feelings I had. The final line is true of songs and poetry.

Stephen, this piece feels like a quiet unraveling… as if the tension between angels and devils is both subtle and urgent. Wow… It seems to capture how complex and tangled our inner songs really are.

Sorry late back on a reply here David, apparently this was sitting in some weird limbo between comment and comment that needed to be approved but without that little red notification, though I don’t know why as you have commented here before. Some issues in my WordPress, specifically comments and commenting, have been really been annoying the shit out of me lately and don’t get me started on reaching out to them.
Anyway, thank you so much. I often wonder if angels and devils are really one in the same, the only difference being just our perceptions of them. They just offer what they do but it’s up to us after that.
And I will take a “wow” any day by the way. Thanks again 🙂

One would not even be what they were without the other. The twain doth need the twuther.
Really like this.

One person’s devil can be other’s angel… something like that, eh! I like it, Stephen.
