Rings (poem)

A new Quadrille prompt this week (44 word poem not including the title) from Kim at dVerse Poets. The word to include this time around? “Engrave”.

Rings

They were inside

A set

Of rings

Initials

Engraved

Ribboned to a pillow

In a church held by ponytails with cherub cheeks and cautious feet

In front of families of smiles

Initials engraved in two rings of a soon brittle metal I don’t recall

  1. A touching poem, Stephen, and I love the idea of the ‘ponytails with cherub cheeks and cautious feet’ and ‘families of smiles’. The ‘rings of a soon brittle metal’ are foreboding.
